Strike!

I'm going on strike until the quantity and quality of comments improves, or until I get back from my vacation, whichever comes first.

As a regular reader I appologize for the lack of feedback. I find this blog wonderfully refreshing for the clear headed, show-me-the-numbers approach to energy related topics.

If you are game to continue posting I would dearly love to see an analysis of the risks of the current crop of nuclear reactor designs. As well as the long term prospects for (and impact of) mining fissile fuel for them in the quantities that would be needed to provide the bulk of base load power. The nuclear industry track record on safety, combined with the potential long term problems that radioactive waste contamination may entail, don't leave me with lots of warm fuzzy feelings but I don't have any hard numbers to back up (or assuage) the uneasy gut.

Thanks for a fantastic collection of posts.

Spend some time thinking about the intermittency problem. I have begun to like the idea of using intermittent power to liquefy air. Use the oxygen to support industrial processes, and th nitrogen to distribute to customers. Replace mechanical refrigeration and A/C. Use the liquid nitrogen to power sterling engines.

Enjoy your holiday (a low quality comment to be sure, but I look forward to your resumption of posting)...

Just want to let you know that I regularly read your site as well. I think you do a fantastic job of making your arguments, and I have learned quite a bit from here.

Cheers, and have a good holiday.
